FCC Eyes Apple's Rejection of Google Voice App for iPhone

The FCC is probing Apple's recent rejection of the iPhone app which allowed Google Voice users to dial calls without using the Google Voice website.

The FCC sent letters to Apple, Google, and AT&T, apparently probing the relationship between Apple and AT&T as a possible reason for the rejection. The FCC may be working from the perspective that the Google Voice app threatens AT&T's market share, prompting the cell phone provider to encourage Apple to disable iPhone-native Google Voice dialers.

While the probe probably doesn't mean that the Apple/AT&T iPhone cabal's days are numbered, the increased scrutiny does mean the regulator is looking for ways to ensure open access to mobile networks.
